Living with colic, a swathe of swipes and glees
Under capricious breaths and mentalese
Kissing the air around and making it blush contrite
An air whose function is cathartic torture
An air whose screams are human hurricanes;
Is I who ponders this way and that I am part of my surroundings,
And in my origami envelope,
I strut and sigh and slouch my spine
I smile from time to time a genuine smile
Of whitest silk a bone to seek
A smile so bold and yet so meek
Serotonin and saccharine words I spoke.
Softly softly softly soft.
My nerves do jag and split the mauve sphere in which we sit
And grimace
Again our ivory teeth.
Lightning bolts and power cables,
I can lose myself with storms in pastel
Jags and splits and spheres and me
A smile cracks.
This is surely quite possible now
Empty words like so many of mine
But coloured joy is what they're worth
Colouring cartoon diversions on clay brick wall
Boomerang thrown, nerves pink in the midst
Piggy in the middle.
Fingers are crossed,
Teeth are brushed.

Goddamn, this was nice to read. I had Jynweythek Ylow by Aphex Twin on in the background and it suited it so well. How long do the poems take you to write? They seem really intricate.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about jamais vu.. it's so fascinating how we get reactions like that, as in, what triggers them? Hope wikipedia can explain.
Thanks man. It didn't take me long to whack DrukQs on after reading this. It's such an incredible work of art.
ReplyDeleteWith my poetry, I generally try and spend less than an hour on the actual writing/editing process. I'll gather little ideas in my little mental handbasket throughout the day, but when I put them down on paper I like to try and keep them as raw/pure as possible, if you see what I mean. I don't like to dwell on them too long.
I imagine you to subscribe to a similar philosophy - your stuff seems written in a great stream-of-conciousness kind of style. I get a real sense of fury out of reading. It suits Fuck Buttons really well.
The brain scares me. I keep learning about this kind of thing, I want to learn more though.
Do you use a holga by the way?
I meant DrukQs was a work of art by the way, not my poem.
